The Pygmy Hog (Porcula  salvania )

Picture

The pygmy hog, once spread all throughout India, is now only found in Manas National Park. Development and agriculture in the surrounding areas ran pygmy hogs out of their natural habitats and into the category of a Critically Endangered species. Loss of food to domestic grazing also played a large role in their endangerment. At the current moment, only 100-150 pygmy hogs are found in Manas National Park. Their numbers are still at risk due to illegal poaching and continuing livestock grazing.
